Summer 2005: Compiled a 0.30 ERA with nine saves in 19 appearances for the Fayetteville SwampDogs of the Coastal Plain League … Recorded a 1-1 record and chipped in on three combined shutouts … Struck out 40 batters in 30 innings of work and allowed just one earned run … Was a teammate of current Jayhawk Matt Lane.

2005 (Junior): Named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention … His 10 saves during the year were the second most ever by a Jayhawk … Made 36 appearances, a new Kansas record … Converted saves in six straight outings (4/26-5/7) for the Jayhawks … Held opponents to a .216 average, the lowest on the KU staff … Recorded two saves against No. 2 Texas to earn Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors … In the second game of the series against the Longhorns (May 7), when he entered in the top of the eighth inning and returned to close out the game on the morning of May 8 as the game was suspended the night before due to rain … Pitched more than one inning in all but two of his 10 saves … Recorded two saves in the three-game series against Kansas State … Earned the victory against No. 9 Nebraska, pitching 1.2 innings and striking out three batters … Picked up the win against Texas A&M (4/1) while pitching 4.1 innings and striking out five Aggies.
